The 1950s and 1960s were all about drive-ins; this type of restaurant was featured in movies and TV shows all the time. Since then, drive-thrus have edged them out and nowadays it’s challenging to find an old school drive-in restaurant. However, several great ones remain in business in New Mexico. So next time you’re feeling nostalgic, cruise over to one of these eight restaurants.
Comet II comes in at number eight because, while it used to be a drive-in restaurant, that is no longer the case. But you'll still get a sense of nostalgia along with your chimichangas.

Foxy Drive-In is a family business that's been in operation since 1956 and is something of an institution in Clovis. This retro joint has the standard burgers, fountain drinks, and banana splits (pictured) that you'd expect, along with Mexican dishes as well.
This drive-in certainly looks like it's been around since the 1950s, but don't be deterred by the exterior! Sure, it's barebones - you order at the counter then retire to your car - but the burgers and chile, in particular, are memorable.
