This Difficult Hiking Trail In New Mexico Will Take You To Old Ruins, A Mine, And Majestic Views

Calling all experienced hikers in New Mexico! Are you ready for a challenge? In the Organ Mountains is a hiking trail that you will want to place near the top of your bucket list — Rabbit Ears Plateau. This is easily one of the most difficult hiking trails in New Mexico but the journey is well worth the challenge.

During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.
Rabbit Ears Plateau is a 6.1-mile out-and-back trail in the Organ Mountains. Make sure you begin this journey well-prepared to ensure an enjoyable and safe climb.

The beginning of the trail is not too difficult and you’ll hike up to an old mineshaft.

You’ll come to some rocky terrain. This is where the real challenge begins. You’ll get to climb over some pretty incredible landscape and the views around you are absolutely gorgeous. Take your time and don't go too fast on this portion of the trail.
