For many New Mexicans, the perfect day consists of connecting with nature, watching wildlife, and enjoying some breathtaking views. Fortunately, you don’t have to travel far to have this type of experience in the Land of Enchantment. There is one hiking trail in the Santa Fe National Forest that will give you all of this -- and so much more! The Alamo Vista Trail in New Mexico is short, but the climb and the final views will certainly make your heart race.
The Alamo Vista Trail is a 2.4-mile, out-and-back trail in New Mexico. It walks you through some of the most beautiful areas in the Santa Fe National Forest.
However, despite the short trail, this hike is not for those looking for a leisurely afternoon walk. This trail is steep and considered quite difficult for even experienced hikers. In fact, you can expect to climb approximately 2,000 feet on your journey.
Despite the challenge, you’ll receive many rewards along the way, such as beautiful, thick groves of aspen trees.
No wonder New Mexico is known as the Land of Enchantment! The aspen groves you walk through are truly, well, enchanting.
Due to the steep incline, it is easy to focus on your feet. However, make sure you stop and look up -- the views are incredible!
Once you near the end of your climb, be prepared for some incredible scenery.
The views at the top of the Alamo Vista Trail in New Mexico are certainly worth the heart-pumping climb you’ve just endured. It will make every step worth it.
