I went to college in New Brunswick, and this charming college town is still a favorite destination of mine for its rich cultural scene, top-notch attractions – and of course, diverse and delicious food scene. Not only is it possible to find so many cuisines here, but you can eat like a king for a relatively small price. A perfect example of this is Mamoun’s Falafel, a small blink-and-you-miss-it hole-in-the-wall restaurant in the busy dining district of Easton Avenue, only feet away from the main Rutgers Campus. A small chain that started in New York in 1971, it now has under ten locations nationwide, most in New York and New Jersey. The specialty here is authentic Middle Eastern cuisines, including what I think is the best falafel in New Jersey, with a menu that has a lot for Vegans and Vegetarians as well as some incredible meat options. It’s like a taste of the Middle East without ever leaving New Jersey!
