New Hampshire is full of surprises – you can live here for years without discovering all its hidden treasures. One that particularly impressed us this summer was Tarbin Gardens in West Franklin.

This charming property was purchased by an English farming family in 1973. It's stayed in that family since, and in 2003 they opened their beautiful gardens to the public.

The 33-acre property is home to several differentiated gardens featuring a number of different types of native and exotic plants.

There are several different ponds, including a koi pond full of water lillies and fish. You'll also find a succulent house, an English bog, and even a little jungle on the property!

The real highlight of a visit to Tarbin Gardens, though, is the classic English Cream Tea. Complete with a pot of tea, scones with clotted cream and jam, and delightful pastries, you'll feel like you've been magically transported across the Atlantic.

There's even a little shop selling all sorts of adorable English wares - it's the perfect place to find a unique gift for a tea and garden loving friend.

Tarbin Gardens is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May through September, for an admission fee of $9 for adults, with discounted rates for students, seniors, and children.
