As the years go by there are more and more fun things to do here in New Hampshire. There are new shops, new restaurants and even new places to enjoy the great outdoors. We're grateful for all the fun we can have right here in our own backyard, but we'll always have a special place in our hearts for the spots that have been delighting us for decades! This amusement park is the perfect example.
Welcome to Story Land, located in Glen! This magical amusement park has been delighting both kids and adults for over 60 years. That's a whole lot of fun!
The park's origin story begins in Germany where Bob and Ruth Morrell were living when Frau Edith Von Arps stopped by their house to sell them handmade dolls based on well-known fairytales. They purchased 25 of them before heading back to the states with the idea that led to Story Land.
The park became a place where stories and characters could come to life and that's exactly how it is today. Over time, rides were added with the goal of creating a place for families to come together and experience a world unlike the every day.
The park has more than 30 rides that are intended for kids to come and enjoy.
Ranging from tame to slightly more adventurous, the park allows kids to visit again and again as they get older.
And each one keeps to the fairytale theme.
All the way down to the friends you can meet along the way! The characters here are friendly and look so much like the real thing that kids will go home believing in magic.
In fact, the attention to detail here is so serious that even the spots for adults will make it feel like you've stepped into a story book.
In addition to rides, Story Land also features lots of dining options, shows and other extras. Of course, if you just want a simple ice cream cone you can get that too.
Story Land feels like an escape from the every day. And, while it may come across as a place for kids, you're certain to find plenty of smiling grown-ups here, too!
Story Land Theme Park is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is the first year that the park will be open every day, so be sure to check it out! We hear it's less busy on Friday and Sunday. The last day of the summer season is typically in early September. There are a few days throughout the summer season that the park is closed, so be sure to check the FAQ section of the website for more information. You can also follow them on Facebook. The park can be reached at 603-383-4186.
If you prefer your family adventures to be a bit more low-key, we've got something simple you can enjoy in Salem. If you have an imagination and love for fairytales this New Hampshire playground is a dream come true.
