If you live in New Hampshire, there’s a good chance you’re a true maple sugar aficionado – from pouring it on pancakes to glazing salmon, you know this natural sweetener is as versatile as it is delicious. And you undoubtedly know on a basic level that syrup comes from maple trees that are tapped – but do you know what happens after that? Lucky you – your chance is coming right up! The annual New Hampshire Maple Weekend takes place March 24–25, and sugarhouses around the state are opening their doors for demonstrations and samples.
