This 21-Mile Historic Train Excursion In New Hampshire Will Take You Over The River And Through The Fall Foliage
New Hampshire is full of history. From museums to historic homes, if you love learning about what happened before we were here there are lots of options. One of the things we really enjoy is combing that history with a fun day out. This train excursion that leaves from North Conway offers just that! Hop aboard this time of year and you’ll also enjoy the changing fall colors that just aren’t the same anywhere else in New England!
Conway Scenic Railroad, located in North Conway, offers one of the best ways to see the state and learn a little bit about the railroad history of the state.
The North Conway station was built in 1874 and last served as a regular passenger station for the Boston & Maine Railroad in 1961. It became the base of operations for the scenic railroad trip in 1974.
Visiting the station is a fun trip into the past, but we love that the railroad offers year-round excursion trips that fit all seasons and any preference.
This part of the state is beautiful throughout the year, but the entire landscape comes alive in the fall. And while you can see it from your car or a fun hike, this leisurely voyage is something special and unique.
We also love the private compartments that fit up to 4 people. Enjoy the sights while riding in this historic train while sharing the experience with friends or family.
Throughout the journey you'll be reminded just how special this state is. And you'll probably want to check the schedule for winter trips!
The Conway Scenic Railroad offers a variety of different rides throughout the area. You can learn about each of them on their website, or check them out on Facebook. Regular seats on the Bartlett Excursion train are $32 while first-class is $40. You can also book a private car for 4 people which will allow you to remove your face mask. These tickets are $40 for adults, $30 for children, and $18 for infants. You can reach the railroad on 603-356-5251.
Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
