It’s no secret that our state wouldn’t be the place that it is today without the arrival of 19th-century prospectors looking to get rich. However, did you know that you can still hunt for gold and possibly strike it big right here in Nevada?  There are all sorts of great metal detecting destinations in the Battle Born State, but there’s one that’s especially well-known among gold hunters: Rye Patch State Recreation Area. Grab your metal detector and get to it! There’s gold in them thar hills!

Please Note: At Rye Patch, you can prospect on any public land that doesn’t have a claim on it. Generally, prospectors are encouraged to check in with the park ranger before searching for gold. Keep in mind that it is illegal to remove any items that may have historical importance.
