Nevada is a beautiful state year-round, and its mild winters mean even more fun stuff to do outdoors (and indoors) during the entirety of the season. Believe it or not there are some pretty great ski resorts in the state – see the next paragraph for more about those! Other than the resorts, though, there’s still plenty; hit up any number of awesome ice skating rinks all over the state, like the ones at The Cosmopolitan and the Las Vegas Ice Center. Head up to the mountains and go cold-weather hiking or camping, or visit any of Nevada’s amazing state parks for plentiful hiking trails and camping spots. Dispersed camping in Nevada is especially nice during winter because there are far fewer tourists at this time of year, ensuring that you’re in for a nice, quiet getaway in fairly mild temperatures (though nighttime temperatures do get chilly at times, so make sure to bring a good blanket).
What are the best ski resorts in Nevada?
As we mentioned above, Nevada is home to some of its very own ski resorts. Who says other, more mountainous, or northern states need to have all the fun? Some of our favorite ski resorts in Nevada include gems like the very aptly named Heavenly Ski Resort, which straddles the California/Nevada state lines and offers mountain views to die for. It’s the largest ski resort in the entire Lake Tahoe area, and it’s definitely a great getaway for when the weather gets chilly. Then, there’s Mount Rose, which is the highest-elevation ski resort in the state at a base elevation of 8,260 feet. Other wonderful ski resorts in the Silver State include Diamond Peak, which is in the Lake Tahoe area, and Lee Canyon, which is only 45 minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip!
