The Sierra Nevada Lavender and Honey Festival will be taking place soon in Sparks, Nevada for its third year. The family-friendly event is an awesome place to celebrate local agriculture and the "scent-sational" things that come from it!
The festival is a fun-filled time that features all things lavender and honey. For one entire day, local farms, food, and businesses will come together to commemorate the beauty of the Sierra Nevada and the wonderful treasures reaped from it.
There's no combination quite as amazing as lavender and honey. The two go together like peanut butter and jelly! During the festival, you can indulge in event-themed foods, educational demonstrations, music, and even a lavender and honey flavored beer from Great Basin Brewing Company.
The festival is the vision of the rural community college known as Western Nevada College Specialty Crop Institute. For more than a decade, the college hosted workshops for both lavender and honey producers. In 2017, they finally created the festival that they'd been dreaming about for so long. Now, the entire community can enjoy the beauty of these two delightful products.
The festival is still relatively small, but there are plenty of things to do. Wander through the vendor booths, savor the flavors of unique food and beverages, and check out the many educational exhibits located throughout the festival. There's something for everyone, both young and old!
