When most people hear "Nevada," they typically think of only a few attractions and activities: Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Hoover Dam, Reno, gambling, hotel resorts, and world-class entertainment. However, the Silver State has so many other epic things guaranteed to please even the most picky person. Here are 11 epic things you never thought of doing in Nevada but really should.
1. Visit one of the state's many ghost towns.
Nevada is chock-full of ghost towns where you can learn about Nevada's mining history and explore its spooky places. This ghost town road trip is especially interesting.
2. Take a hike...literally.
Nevada is home to thousands of hiking trails across the state. From Red Rock Canyon (pictured) to Mount Rose and everywhere in between, the Silver State is a hiker's paradise
3. Go spelunking.
Located in Great Basin National Park, Lehman Caves is a truly jaw-dropping sight. While in the park, you can also see Prometheus, the world's oldest tree stump.
4. Take an epic canyon zipline.

5. Tour an amazing chocolate factory (and botanical garden).

Sand Mountain, located just east of Fallon, is known for its singing sands, created by millions of sand grains vibrating together. In addition to experiencing this interesting natural occurrence, you can also go sand sledding, ATV-ing, and dirt biking.
11. Tour one of the state's many mines.
Because of its prolific mining history, Nevada is home to several mines, many of which give informative tours. Oh yeah, and some are rumored to be haunted.
There is so much more to Nevada than the few aforementioned, popular attractions. In fact, the Silver State is chock full of truly epic things, many of which are rather unexpected.
