Sometimes you’ll find outstanding food hiding in the most unassuming and out-of-the-way places…and sometimes the best places are right out in the open. This underground restaurant is a little of both; it’s in a high-traffic area, but you have to go underground to get to it.
Trini's Mexican Restaurant occupies a spot in the lower level of the Passageway in Omaha's Old Market district. The Passageway is an enclosed alleyway outfitted in bricks and plants. Several stores and a few restaurants and other businesses are located in this unique area.
It sits underground, at the base of the brick staircase that leads you down from street level. The Passageway already has a cozy, intimate feeling, and Trini's takes it to the next level...figuratively speaking.
No matter what you order to eat, be sure to get a margarita or two. But you might as well just order a pitcher for the table because they're ridiculously delicious.
If you aren't feeling the cozy, dimly-lit interior, you can ask for one of the tables just outside of the restaurant's walls and next to the brick walkway. This is the perfect people-watching spot.
You can get to Trini’s by visiting the Passageway in the Old Market at 1020 Howard St, Omaha. Trini’s is just down the stairs on the right side. Click here for the restaurant’s hours, phone number, and more information.
While you’re in the Passageway, check out this little hidden garden that most people don’t even know is there.
