Not all of us are blessed with the ability to make amazing pies ourselves, which is why The Village PieMaker is pretty much the best thing ever. This small-town business has grown from a one-woman operation in a spare bedroom to a company employing more than two dozen employees and shipping their product to 17 states.

The Village Piemaker is located in the tiny Frontier County village of Eustis. Although the business is not set up to welcome visitors or tours, you can enjoy these tender, flaky, sweet treats in your own home.

The original village pie maker was Judith Ogden Larsen. She learned to make delectable pies from her mother at a young age. Later, she sold her pies from her pickup truck on the side of the road. They quickly grew in popularity until the business outgrew the spare bedroom in Judith's house.

Today, every one of these pies is still made with the same love and care that went into the pies that came out of your grandma's kitchen. The company's motto is "No canned stuff," and it's a philosophy they hold near and dear.

Judith is now retired, but the pie makers who run the kitchen show up before the crack of dawn to start making and rolling the crust. Everything is made and measured by real people.

The tender, flaky crusts are made with real butter and carefully placed into the pie pans by hand. They're then filled with mixtures of real fruit and finished off with a top crust. The pie makers then crimp the crusts with their own hands.

The pies are immediately frozen and packaged to lock in the fresh flavors. Some are shipped off to grocery stores and others are sold online. These talented folks produce around 2,000 pies a day, and even more during the holiday season.

You can choose between a variety of fruit fillings. Cherry, blueberry, and apple are the most popular, and rotating special flavors round out the offerings. You really can't go wrong with whatever variety you choose - they're all incredible.
