The local drugstore used to be the center of the town. They tended to be more than just pharmacies; they sold limited general merchandise, and the really good ones had soda fountains. The fun fountains served up shakes and malts, phosphates, ice cream sundaes, and all kinds of other treats that were beloved by kids and adults alike.
