Nebraska's small towns are often hiding some of the best down-home food in the whole state. This town is particularly small with a population of just 68, but folks still travel from far and wide to eat here.
Hubbell is a teeny-tiny town right on the Nebraska/Kansas border. The nearest large(ish) town is Beatrice, about an hour away.
It's a cozy kind of place where everyone knows each other and neighbors are more like family.
People here - and from neighboring communities - tend to gather at the Acreage Steakhouse. It's pretty much exactly what you would expect from a rural steakhouse in a very remote location: friendly and homey with tasty, wholesome food.
Besides mouthwatering steaks, you can find other savory meals like ham steak with mashed potatoes...
And melt-in-your-mouth hot beef sandwiches. It's definitely not fancy food, but it's filling and always tastes great.
There are rotating specials, so stop in multiple times to taste a variety of tasty dishes. The steakhouse also offers special events, like the Thanksgiving buffet with all the holiday standards (and then some).
The Acreage also caters, so if you can't get enough of their food you can have it brought to you for your next party or gathering.
It may not be fancy, and it may take quite a drive to get there, but this steakhouse may just become your new favorite rural restaurant. Stop in and see what you think!
