Wyoming is full of beautiful hikes, but some really stand out above the rest. The hike up to Cascade Canyon in Grand Teton National Park is one of those. Not only will you cross a stunning glacial lake, but you'll hike into a canyon surrounded by towering peaks, visit a hidden waterfall, and take in a view unlike any other.
You'll start the day at the stunning Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park.
You can hike two miles to the trailhead, but most people choose to take the breezy ferry boat right to the mouth of the canyon.
There's nothing quite like approaching this enormous, famous canyon. Look at the small dock towards the bottom of this picture to see how large it really is.
The hike up into Cascade Canyon is steep, but switchbacks make it an easy hike for most people.
At one point, you'll come around a corner and find yourself at the beginning of the beautiful, sprawling, and impressive Cascade Canyon. From here, hike on through boulder fields and forest.
Many people turn Cascade into an overnight backpacking trip by hiking on to Lake Solitude, and then back via Paintbrush Canyon.
If you're a day hiker, head back towards the trailhead and take a detour to find Hidden Falls, and Inspiration Point.
The hike up towards the falls follows a beautiful river where you may spot wildlife. Be sure to bring bear spray and have it accessible.
Hidden Falls is accessed via a short side trail - look for trail markers and listen for the waterfall, because it's easy to miss.
From there, hike on up to Inspiration Point. You'll be able to see across Wyoming for miles from the top! Rest here a while, and head back to the boat dock for your peaceful ride back across Jenny Lake.
If you time your day just right, you can catch sunset on the lake. What a perfect end to a perfect adventure.
