The Colchester Causeway trail in Vermont offers a scenic and easy walk from the mainland to Grand Isle with stunning lake views.

Vermont is pretty much a nature lover’s paradise. There are mountains to climb, lakes to paddle across, and deep forests to explore. But what about island-hopping? You can actually stroll right over the water to this beautiful Vermont island without ever getting your feet wet. Here’s how.

The Colchester Causeway trail is pretty much the perfect easy nature walk. It has everything — water views, beautiful sunsets, and flat terrain for easy strolling.

And what makes this trail extra special? It will literally take you from the mainland to the island of Grand Isle!

The 10.9-mile out and back trail offers unparalleled lake views and a smooth paved surface that’s perfect for walking, jogging, or cycling. Sunshine and water totally surround you on this hike.

You'll be flanked the Adirondacks on one side and Green Mountains on the other. If you're biking, there are plenty of pull-off spots where you can take a breather.

Near Grand Isle, the causeway features a slight gap so that boats can pass around the isle. This means that In order to get all the way to the island, you must take there is a super short ferry. But it's a seriously quick trip and only takes a few moments.

There's plenty of vegetation to check out as you stroll. Bring your camera to capture shots of spring wildflowers or verdant trees.
