Hike To A Revolutionary War Era Cemetery At This Little-Known State Park In Vermont

Vermont's State Parks are some of the best in New England. They offer scenic views and the opportunity for many different kinds of activities. Each one is a state treasure in its own way. Today's featured state park is most popular for its stunning lake, but what makes it unique is a cemetery hike that takes you to a place of Revolutionary War era history.
Lowell Lake State Park in Londonderry is an undeveloped forest land surround a beautiful lake. The natural gem became a state park in 1977 and additional acreage was added to the park in 1996.
Embark on the Lowell Lake Trail for a scenic 3.5-mile looped journey that hugs the lake shores.
The trail is mostly flat and considered just a moderate hike. Engulfed in the woodlands, you'll feel as though you've entered a quiet world of your own.
Catch glimpses of the lake through the large stands of pine trees you'll encounter along the way.
What sets this trail apart from others, is the Revolutionary War era cemetery hidden along the way.
The centuries old headstones are a testament to the struggles of early Americans who lived nearby.
After you've paid your respects to history, enjoy the other assets of the park. Cast a line and check out the great fishing this spot has to offer.
Enjoy an early morning or afternoon paddle on the water. Only non-motorized boats are allowed on the lake.
Jump off the dock and splash around. This summertime swimming spot is refreshing and crystal clear.
