This Enchanting Hike Takes You Straight Through Utah’s Very Own Grand Canyon

Utah's San Rafael Swell is an often-overlooked part of Utah that's seriously underrated. The Wedge - a deep gorge - is nicknamed "Utah's Little Grand Canyon," because while it's nowhere near as big as the Grand Canyon, it's every bit as stunning.

The Wedge, Utah's Little Grand Canyon, is located in central Utah, south of Price, and north of I-70.

Either before or after you hike the canyon, you'll definitely want to drive up to the Wedge Overlook. See the Google map for directions via US 6, through Price.

You'll walk down a narrow spit to find this sign, which tells you about the geology of the canyon...

...and you'll get a look at this view.

Make sure you have your camera handy for this one, because it's absolutely stunning.

There are two trailheads in the canyon; one starts at the San Rafael Bridge, and the other starts at Fuller Bottom.

Regardless of where you start, this trail is moderately difficult.

You'll see a little side canyon - Virgin Spring Canyon - about eight miles in. Check it out, because you'll see some cool pictographs there.

You'll cross the river several times in this canyon.

In fact, this canyon isn't hikeable when the water level is high in the spring. Check with local rangers before hiking if you think there's even the slightest possibility of flash flood.
