This Easy Alpine Hike In Utah Is Perfect For Everyone

Discover the top hiking trails in the Pacific Northwest known for their scenic views and diverse landscapes.

It's the perfect time of year to go for a hike in Utah's gorgeous mountains; the temperature is mild and the leaves are starting to change color. However, not everyone can traverse a steep, rocky trail. No worries! Here's a hike that's perfect for just about everyone. It's even handicapped accessible. Check out Silver Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Silver Lake is a beautiful alpine lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

To get there, drive about 14 miles up the canyon to the Silver Lake Visitor's Center parking lot. The trail is located right behind the Visitor's Center.

This hike is perfect for kids, who will love the wide, level trail.

They'll also love watching the wildlife.

On any given day, you might see ducks (and even ducklings)...

chimpmunks and squirrels...

...and even moose!

The boardwalk is nice and wide, making it handicapped accessible for wheelchairs and walkers.

The trail makes a .9-mile loop around the lake, so you'll be able to complete it in just about a half hour. Plan on being here a lot longer than that, though - it's so pretty up here that you'll want to bring a picnic!

You can fish in Silver Lake with a Utah fishing license.

This area is gorgeous year-round.

In the winter, the trail is perfect for snowshoeing and winter fun.
