Looking for a fun way to enjoy the outdoors with your clan? Look no further than Grotto Falls Trail! True to its name, the trail leads to both a waterfall and grotto. What the name doesn’t tell you is that it’s also a short, easy hike. Offering a big payoff with minimal effort, this beginner-friendly waterfall trail is great for a family hike.
Grotto Falls Trail is located near Santaquin, about 7 miles from Payson.
Short, extremely flat, and easy to navigate, the trail couldn’t be more perfect for young and beginner hikers.
At just half a mile in length, the hike can easily be completed in under an hour.
What the trail lacks in length, it more than makes up for in beauty. The well-marked path winds through shaded woods and along a stream, before coming to an end at a waterfall.
At some points, the trail actually crosses the stream. In these spots, you’ll find makeshift bridges, allowing hikers dry passage.
About a quarter mile into the trek, you’ll stumble upon the highlight of the trail – Grotto Falls.
Aptly named, the fall is accompanied by a grotto, which is a cave formed by a waterfall.
The waterfall is a stunning sight year-round.
However, there’s no denying that summer is the best time to visit, and that’s because you can wade in the shallow pool at the waterfall’s base.
You can even walk under the fall as well as explore the grotto up-close!
