There’s An Alpaca Farm In Utah And You’re Going To Love It

Blue Moon Ranch in Utah offers an up-close experience with alpacas and a shop for alpaca yarn and handmade items.

Alpacas were originally bred high in the Andes Mountains of Peru, Chile, Bolivia and Ecuador. They're known for their superior fleece that's similar to wool, and these fluffy, gentle, intelligent animals are now raised in the United States. Utah has a few alpaca farms; here's one where you can get to know alpacas up close and personal.

Blue Moon Ranch is located in Woodland, surrounded by some of Utah's most beautiful rural scenery.

Owners Linda Gardner and Ed Heintz have 20 years of alpaca-raising experience, and their alpacas are happy, healthy and absolutely beautiful.

The ranch raises alpacas for their fleece, and also offers alpacas for sale. You'll want to visit this gorgeous ranch this spring.

Yaya's Yarn Barn is full of alpaca yarn and handmade mittens, hats, and scarves. It's open by appointment only, but this little place is a treasure trove for knitters, so you're going to want to arrange a time to shop.

Before you visit, text 801-898-0145 or email Linda at [email protected]. Cell phone coverage at the ranch is spotty, so be sure to text or email instead of calling.

If you love to knit, you're going to love alpaca yarn.

Come visit the alpacas during the Open Barn Day on May 19th from 2 PM to 4 PM!

You'll get a chance to see the alpacas at their fluffiest, before they're sheared, and Yaya's Yarn Barn will have tons of gorgeous offerings, too.

If you're interested in raising your own alpacas, Blue Moon Ranch can help.

The ranch sells alpacas and offers plenty of support to new owners. You can learn more about raising alpacas on this page of Blue Moon Ranch’s website.
