This Hidden U.S. Waterfall Is Hard To Get To But So Worth The Journey

Mooney Falls in Arizona offers a challenging hike to see its stunning aquamarine waters.

One of the most stunning waterfalls in the world is hiding in Arizona, but you’ll need to brave a challenging hike to see it for yourself.

Mooney Falls is on the Hacasupai Reservation in Arizona and definitely one of the most gorgeous spots in the state. Once a little-known natural wonder visited by locals in the know, this spot is quickly becoming a must-see destination for intrepid hikers looking for a once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity.

The otherworldly aquamarine waters of Mooney Falls are like something from a daydream.

One of several waterfalls fed by Havasu Creek, Mooney Falls tumbles into a startlingly blue pool.

The enchanting color is due to high amounts of calcium carbonate in the water.

However, reaching these mesmerizing falls isn’t a walk in the park.

The eight-mile hike into Havasu Canyon is followed by a two-mile trek past the village of Supai.

Getting down to the waterfall itself will take you through a series of narrow caves…

…and down a ladder system attached to the sheer face of the canyon’s cliff.

Once you’re down there though, the beauty of the falls will erase any memory of the difficult journey.

If you're tough enough to brave the trip, there's no reason not to visit this miracle of nature.

Visiting these falls does take a bit of planning (and a permit), so be sure to visit the Grand Canyon park website here to make sure you have everything you need. For more incredible American destinations, take a look at the 15 most colorful places across the country.
