Norris Lake is a scenic reservoir that boasts roughly 809 miles of shoreline and is known for fishing, swimming, boating, hiking, and beautiful picnic areas.
You could easily spend days at this lake. Spend some time hiking one day, take out the boat and cruise around the lake, swim with the family, or just simply enjoy a lunch by the cool and calming waters. It's safe to say there is plenty to do while visiting Norris Lake.

The East Tennessee hills and distant peaks make for a stunning, picture-perfect landscape, and with 33,840 acres of water surface, Norris Lake provides ample room for activity. There is something so appealing about a place that offers such highs and lows. You can get great overlooks of the lake or go right out in the middle and enjoy the surrounding mountains. Both options are a great way to submerge yourself in this pristine location.
There are multiple parks in the Norris Lake vicinity, including Norris Dam and Big Ridge State Parks, as well as commercial marinas and campgrounds. With hundreds of coves and multiple wildlife management areas, Norris Lake has become a prime spot for local vacationers. With miles of trails to explore, wildlife to find, and plenty of adventure to be had no wonder so many people view this as a great place to "get away from it all."
If you're looking to hike, we'd recommend the Norris Dam Lakeside Loop Trail. The 6.2-mile loop is great for a long walk in nature, and it boasts some seriously beautiful views of the forest and lake. Most of the trail follows along the lake giving you ample amount of time during your hike to take in the beautiful water from multiple angles. If you wanted to extend your hike there are plenty of trails weaving in and out around the lake that you could easily spend the day on the trails.
