Living near the ocean promises us so many amazing opportunities - from leisurely walks along sandy beaches to drinking in some of the most beautiful views as we explore by boat. A trip on the ocean also means the opportunity to see seals, dolphins, and whales, especially if you climb aboard a boat with Frances Fleet to go whale watching in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
Adventure's never far in Rhode Island, but few are quite as unique and awe-inspiring as this dolphin and whale-watching excursion in Narragansett.
Hosted by Frances Fleet, the whale and dolphin watching excursions are offered seasonally, generally from late June through the beginning of September.
Bring a rain jacket, sunscreen, and a hat. Closed-toed shoes and extra clothing are advised as it can get quite chilly on the water.
The 4.5-hour excursion begins with boarding at 1 p.m., and the boat returns to shore around 5:30 p.m.
You can purchase snacks and drinks on the boat. Only cash is accepted.
Don't forget your camera for this unique journey where you might just be lucky enough to see a variety of the ocean's most majestic creatures.
The boat has two bathrooms, too.
Finback, humpback, and false killer whales have all been spotted during excursions.
Keep an eye out, too, for dolphins, sharks, and loggerhead turtles.
Unfortunately, there's no guarantee you will see any whales, dolphins, or ocean life. Tickets are non-refundable, but all passengers will receive a voucher for a free excursion to try again.
Excursions are sometimes canceled due to poor weather conditions. You will be contacted by email or phone if your trip is canceled.
Tours are typically offered Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Frances Fleet offers a family special - two adults and two children for one price - on Tuesdays and Fridays.
