1. Explore decaying ruins at Scarborough Beach.

Exploring this decaying structure at Scarborough Beach in Narragansett is a unique Rhody beach experience. This state beach has ample parking, a food window, showers, and much more. Find it on Ocean Road in Narragansett.

2. Tour an old military fort.

This former United States Army post is more than a century old and found right in Newport. Exploring the fort and walking around the grounds is a wonderful experience. Find Fort Adams State Park at 84 Fort Adams Drive in Newport.

3. Go on a self-propelled railway excursion through stunning scenery.

This brand new attraction known as Rail Explorers is an amazing experience and operates out of the Newport and Narragansett Bay Railroad at 19 America's Cup in Newport.

4. Hike in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut all on the same trail.

This amazing hike known as the Tri-State Loop is just around 5 miles and is found in the northern part of the state. The trail momentarily passes through sections of both Connecticut and Massachusetts, as the name suggests and is as fun as it is lovely! 5. Spend time in a lavish mansion.

The Breakers is a massive and stunning mansion built in the late 1800s with 70 rooms of beautiful art and furnishings sure to take your breath away. It can be found at 44 Ochre Point in Newport off the cliff walk and tours are offered through the Newport Preservation Society.

6. Explore the state's capital city by boat.

Providence River Boat Company has been in operation for more than 20 years and offers multiple city boat tours. Nothing really compares to getting up close and personal with Providence WaterFire through the company's WaterFire rides. Find it at 575 South Water Street in Providence.

7. Spend a day enjoying some of Rhode Island's freshest seafood.

Few things are as Rhode Island as the Annual Seafood Festival every September. Enjoy amazing food and other amusements over the course of this fun weekend in Charlestown.

8. Descend 150 foot clay cliffs to a secluded beach on one of the most stunning islands in Narragansett Bay.

The Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular, Roger Williams Park and Zoo's jack-o-lantern walk, is among the most memorable of happenings in state. This annual event can be found inside the zoo at 1000 Elmwood Avenue in Providence.
