Oregon's stunning coastline is beyond compare, and there's no better way to spend a day than exploring a beautiful beach. Here's a serene beach that's one of our state's most spectacular hidden gems.
Sunset Bay is a beautiful spot just north of Bandon. The little bay is protected by majestic cliffs, giving it a secluded feel.
You'll love spending the day exploring Sunset Beach, which is gorgeous year-round. Bring a picnic lunch, some sand toys, and your camera. You can easily while away the hours just watching the ocean waves and breathing in the fresh, sea air.
As the tide recedes, you'll find interesting bits of driftwood and other beach treasures. It's interesting to discover all the things that were covered by the ocean waves just hours ago.
Pups will be in heaven on this little beach where they can frolic and play in the waves and fetch sticks and balls for hours. Your dog is welcome at this state park; just make sure to clean up after him so the beach is nice for everyone to enjoy.
Just a short walk from the beach, you'll find the Sunset Bay State Park Campground, which includes 65 RV sites, 65 tent sites, and eight yurts (two are even dog friendly!).
The yurts are clean and comfortable, and include bunk beds and a futon bed, and table and chairs. Bring your own bedding, and you'll be snug and comfortable.
A quiet stroll on the beach is always nice, and this secluded cove is peaceful, especially once the summer visitors to the coast have gone home.
Even if you're just spending the day, you'll want to hang out to witness the sunset. Get your camera ready, because this place definitely earns its name!
