In 2013, Oregonians Dave and Nancy Lowe were looking for ways to build a community for their daughter, Whitney Hope.
Originally, they wanted to create a farm workshop where adults with developmental disabilities could work in an independent environment. Shortly after coming up with the concept of a lavender farm, their plan shifted, and their program was never launched.
When you're a parent, you don't let anything stand in the way of helping your children, and for Whitney Hope, the Lowes continued to develop the farm.
So the couple forged ahead, starting a small lavender farm with the help of family and friends.
Despite numerous roadblocks, Hope Lavender Farm officially opened to the public in 2015.
The farm, of course, is named after the Lowe's daughter. It is a beautiful tribute to the audacity of hope.

There have been proposals here, and even a wedding.
