Hike With Wallowa Llamas At Spring Creek Of Hells Canyon In Oregon

Explore the stunning Wallowa Mountains with a llama-assisted backpacking trip for a hassle-free adventure.

Hiking through the beautiful Wallowa Mountains is always a great way to spend a day, but if you really want to explore this area, a backpacking trip of at least a weekend is in order. The only problem with backpacking? You have to carry everything you need, and that makes your hike a lot harder.

Instead of carrying all your gear, take a hike with Wallowa Llamas this year! The llamas will do all the heavy lifting, allowing you to enjoy the scenery.

The Wallowa Mountains is known as the "Alps of Oregon," and the 40-mile-long range is just absolutely stunning. You'll find plenty of day hiking in these mountains, but for a truly incredible experience, take a backpacking trip.

If you don't love the idea of carrying everything you need for several days of camping on your back, then you'll want to contact Wallowa Llamas.

The llamas will carry all your gear for you!

Llamas are sweet, gentle creatures that are also very sure-footed. They can carry up to 30 percent of their body weight, and have been used as pack animals since the pre-Columbian era.

Wallowa Llamas offers several different itineraries, but the Spring Creek of Hells Canyon trip is one of the easiest. You'll make your way along the Snake River for a couple miles...

...then you'll head up Spring Creek Trail. The hills are covered with wildflowers!

It's a total of four miles to the basecamp, where you'll spend the next few days.

From basecamp, you'll explore the trail along the bench. Bring your camera - this scenery just can't be beat!

In addition to pretty flora and stunning landscapes, you'll also see some wildlife.

Your excursion also covers three meals per day, and these aren't the freeze-dried meals you might expect on a backpacking trip.

Your guides will prepare delicious breakfasts that include fresh fruit, Swedish pancakes, and hot coffee. For lunch and dinner, enjoy entrees like smoked salmon, lasagna, enchiladas, fresh salads, and desserts. You'll also have some fresh trail mix to nibble while you hike!

Since the llamas are carrying most of your gear...

...you'll be free to enjoy this spectacular scenery...

...and even take a nap. The Wallowa Mountains are the perfect place to relax and bask in the beauty of nature.

These trips book up fast, so make sure to check out the Wallowa Llamas website soon. You can also see photos of past trips on the company's Facebook page.
