The Ouachita National Forest is a National Forest that lies in eastern Oklahoma and is is the oldest National Forest in the southern United States. One of the best ways to see the scenery is to take the 54 mile drive along the Talimena National Drive.
If you travel four miles north of Talihina, you'll come across The Rock House at 52060 Blackjack Ridge Drive. Just follow the long, dirt road until you see the sign and house.
This destination restaurant opened in 2012 on over 280 acres of rural land in the mountains of eastern Oklahoma.
It's the kind of place you want to plan on spending a whole afternoon or evening enjoying a drink out on the patio before or after dinner.
Every spot inside and outside the restaurant offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
You'll find delicious steak, seafood and pasta on the menu.
They are actually kind of famous for their aged, hand-carved, made-to-order Angus steaks.
All of their chicken is all-natural, with no antibiotics or growth hormones, raised free range and fed a vegetarian Non-Gmo diet. And it's delicious!
Just make sure to save room for one of their incredible desserts. If you love carrot cake, you won't want to leave Talihina without trying it.
