The Oklahoma City Zoo Is Live Streaming Red Pandas For Your Enjoyment
Oklahoma City Zoo is live-streaming their red pandas for virtual enjoyment during its temporary closure.
Normally, the Oklahoma City Zoo would be hopping with instream of visitors from school field trips and spring breakers. Since opening in 1902, it's been a top destination for animal lovers as they come for entertainment and education regarding a variety of animals. Even though the zoo isn't open to the public right at this time, doesn't mean you can't enjoy some of the animals from afar. Right now, the zoo is live-streaming their adorable red pandas for your enjoyment. Take a look:
The Oklahoma City Zoo is a zoo and botanical garden located at 2101 NE 50th St. in Oklahoma City. The zoo is home to more than 1,900 animals, including several adorable red pandas.
You can get an exclusive real-time look at the OKC Zoo’s red panda family with the Zoo’s new red panda cam online. (Link at end of article.)
Red Pandas are a mammal native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China and currently listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List.
Normally, you would be able to visit the zoo in person and see all the animals, but during these unusual times, it's great to be able to still see the red pandas in their enclosures.
In the Oklahoma Zoo red panda family, you'll find Thomas (age 6), and Leela, (age 5), plus their offspring Khyana and Ravi (9 months old). On camera, you'll see them play, eat, and engage with their caretakers.
The median life expectancy for red pandas is 10 years. Hopefully, in a few months, things will return to normal and you'll be able to see these cuties in person. For now, click the video link below to see what they are doing today.
The Zoo’s red panda cam will stream live daily through Friday, May 1, with optimal viewing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. When temperatures reach 90 degrees or higher, the red pandas are given exclusive access to their indoor habitats, outside the camera’s field of view.
