The Deep Fork River feeds Arcadia Lake in Edmond, and the lake is actually a reservoir, which means that its water quality is closely monitored. It was created by a joint effort between the City of Edmond and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1987.
Luckily, swimming is permitted in the reservoir, and it's a great place to take a dip. That’s a great thing because the water here is so refreshing that you won’t be able to resist wading in. Additionally, the surf here is very gentle, making it suitable for families with small kids or anyone who doesn’t feel like getting knocked about by the water.
Arcadia Lake is relatively large with 1,820 surface acres and 26 miles of shoreline, including designated swimming beaches. Kids love playing in the sand and building sand castles by the lake!
Of course, there’s more to do here than just swimming. Facilities for picnicking, camping, biking, and hiking are all available. You can also play a round of disc golf or even bring your horse for a jaunt around their equestrian trails. Bringing a blanket and a basket of treats to enjoy while watching the sunset over the water here is a superb way to round off a day enjoying the lake.
If you can’t bear to leave the water, visitors are also welcome to water ski, boat, and fish to their heart’s content. In fact, anglers are in luck: this place offers a heated, covered dock that makes year-round fishing a delight. You can expect to catch tasty bluegill, channel catfish, blue catfish, and largemouth bass.
To access the lake, you must pay a fee of $10 per vehicle (for up to five people), $3 per pedestrian or cyclist, or $3.50-$7 per watercraft (non-motorized or motorized).
