Located in Newark, The Dawes Arboretum features stunning gardens, nature trails and whimsical sculptures year-round for both art and nature lovers to enjoy. Here's why this little-known treasure belongs on your Ohio bucket list:

One of the most enchanting places in Ohio, The Dawes Arboretum is easy to spot from the sky with its perfectly placed landscaping.

You'll find it along Jacksontown Road in Newark, Ohio.

This stunning garden is open all year round and features various collections, including a Cypress Swamp with a boardwalk, shrubs from around the world and a Japanese garden.

The Dawes Arboretum was established in 1929 by Beman and Bertie Dawes. Today, it strives to preserve and celebrate nature.

During your visit, you'll want to tour the Daweswood House Museum if it's open and you're able to.

During normal hours of operation, you can visit The Dawes Arboretum daily from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.

You'll also get to explore beyond the formal gardens. The StoryTrail is fairly new and it's a must-do, especially if you have children in tow.

It's an enchanting escape from everyday life.
