North Dakota is known for its vast plains, river valleys, and rugged canyons of the badlands. What it isn't so known for is towering mountains, but that's not to say there aren't any. Sullys Hill National Game Preserve is a beautiful park located near Devils Lake, North Dakota.

The preserve includes 1,674 acres of preserved land right along the shores of the lake, mostly wooded area that supports an entire ecosystem of plants and animals.

The preserve includes a trail that will take you to a vantage point like no other.

This trail consists mostly of stairs directly up the hill.

Along the way, you'll likely encounter some of the many animals that live in the preserve.

Animals like bison, elk, deer, tons of migratory birds, and even prairie dogs roam this area.

As you get higher and higher, you'll see just how much of the landscape is visible on the hill.

The trees and meadows of the area go on for miles and miles and you can only get this kind of view at Sullys Hill.

Once you're at the top you'll get the very best view of all: the deep blue of Devils Lake.

Devils Lake is North Dakota's largest natural lake and is a great place for outdoor recreation, especially in the summer.
