This Lake Monument In North Dakota Is So Hidden You’ll Probably Have It All To Yourself

There is a monument at a lake in North Dakota that barely anyone seems to know about. It's located out in the middle of nowhere near a small town far from any major city. Depending on when you go you'll probably have it all to yourself! This historic site is both interesting, fun, and beautiful. Take a look for yourself:

Out in south central North Dakota is a lake located near the charming small town of Ashley.

The lake is called Lake Hoskins, and it's notable not only for being a lovely place for outdoor recreation, but also because of a special monument that no other lake in North Dakota can say it has.

The monument is called the Old Settlers Monument and it can be found right next to the lake.

This monument was made where the first settlement of the county originally was. The many stones that make up the monument have the carved names of those settlers who came through in the 1880s.

Along with the neat monument, the lake itself is awesome to visit. It's normally quiet and full of plenty of things to do.

Lake Hoskins is more popular in the summertime when people like to fish, boat, and swim in the lake. There are also campgrounds, picnic shelters, and a playground available for use to have a perfect outing with the family.

It's the only lake in North Dakota like it, and it serves as the perfect quiet and relaxing place to just enjoy the scenery and the history.
