This Epic Mountain In North Dakota Will Drop Your Jaw
The Killdeer Mountains in North Dakota offer impressive views and historical significance as the site of an 1864 battle.
North Dakota isn't well known for having vast mountain ranges or towering peaks by any means. For the most part, the state is covered in wide prairies. That's not to say there aren't any hills or mountains at all; in fact there are quite a few. This is one in North Dakota that not only looks pretty awesome, but also has some interesting history.
The Killdeer Mountains are located near Killdeer, North Dakota
The hills look over a historical battlefield known as the Killdeer Mountain Battlefield Historical Site
The battle took place on July 28, 1864. It was a group of troops commanded by General Sully against a group of Sioux. This site commemorates that battle.
The view from the top of is pretty impressive - expansive fields on the curving horizon. You can see for miles and miles.

The wildflowers in the area are beautiful in certain times of the year.
