This Prairie Swimming Hole In North Dakota Is So Hidden You’ll Probably Have It All To Yourself

Head out to this quiet swimming hole tucked away in the hills of the North Dakota prairie and you might find you've got it all to yourself. This lesser-known lake is beautifully scenic and full of recreational opportunities and yet is usually peaceful and not busy, if anyone is even there at all. This quaint little lake is located a little ways outside of Mandan, North Dakota. It's part of a state game management area and is called Crown Butte Lake.

It's a small but beautiful lake at about 30 acres in size and a max depth of approximately 30 feet, tucked away in the gently rolling prairie hills.

Among the trees surrounding the lake, you'll find everything you need for a pleasant visit. Picnic shelters, fishing pier, and camp sites are all available.

You'll be able to enjoy the quiet solitude while you relax on the shore, take a dip in the water, or head out on the boat and cast a few lines.

You might not be entirely alone, however. You can expect to see plenty of birds such as herons, ducks, and geese living and thriving here.

Fishing is good on this lake, too. Largemouth bass and bluegills are commonly caught. No matter what you plan on doing at this lake, you'll find it peaceful and serene.
