Have you ever been on a road trip and driven past a sign for an animal encounter ahead? Located off U.S. Hwy 82 in Mayhill, New Mexico is a roadside stop you will want to make. Welcome to Runyan Ranches. Not only can you stop to purchase local goods and souvenirs, but it's a place where you can feed animals in New Mexico.
I love being on a road trip and stopping at some sort of wonderfully unique roadside attraction, which is exactly what you'll find in Runyan Ranches.
This roadside stop is located at 4839 Rio Penasco Rd. in Mayhill.
If you're as much of an animal lover as I am, you're going to really enjoy this stop! Not only can you pick up some souvenirs but there's essentially a zoo on this ranch.
While the zoo is small, there are plenty of animals to interact with. In fact, you can even feed some of them.
For example, you can feed the friendly goats as well as...
...the fish! You'll find lovely little fish ponds around the ranch and can purchase a bag of fish food for $3 to feed them. This is such a fun thing for kids to do!
Needless to say, this is a great roadside attraction to stop at on a long car ride to somewhere else. However, I think it's a destination in and of itself.
So, the next time you find yourself on U.S. Hwy 82, do yourself a favor and stop at Runyan Ranches to feed the animals.
