The Echo Amphitheater Is One Of New Mexico’s Best Natural Hidden Gems That’s Worth A Visit

Echo Amphitheater in northern New Mexico is a stunning natural sandstone formation with a short, accessible trail and picnic areas.

New Mexico is home to some absolutely stunning landscapes. Places like Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness showcase otherworldly scenes, Carlsbad Caverns illustrate a subterranean wonderland, and White Sands National Park is simply a blindingly beautiful sight.

The lesser-known and visited locations, however, are some of our favorites. And that's just how we would categorize Echo Amphitheater.

Located in northern New Mexico, a short drive north from Abiquiu, Echo Amphitheater is a favorite local spot.

A towering sandstone cliff that gently curves along a mesa, this natural wonder has a super short trail, picnic areas, and a small campsite.

The amphitheater is a wonder, looking as though someone scooped a chunk of sandstone from a recessed portion of the landmark.

Here, you'll find a small, wheelchair and stroller-friendly trail paved in concrete.

Measuring a half-mile overall, this trail slowly winds its way from the parking lot to an area just shy of the natural beauty's amphitheater.

Have you been to this out-of-the-way location? What were you most impressed by here?
