Discover 5 bucket-list views in Nevada you can reach without expert hiking, from scenic overlooks to easy-access natural wonders.
How far are you willing to travel for an epic view? Not everyone can undertake an arduous trek along a long, steep trail for hours to experience views that are bucket-list-worthy. The good thing is, many trails throughout Nevada don't require expert hiking experience to see magnificent vistas. Here are five short and sweet trails that lead to bucket list views in Nevada, and, best of all, you don't need to have a lot of hiking experience.
1. Zephyr Beach Trail
- Location: Zephyr Cove
- Length: 1.1-mile, out-and-back trail
- Need to Know: The trail starts at Zephyr Cove Resort—please double-check any private parking signs here. Roads leading to the trailhead are subject to seasonal closures in winter. Visit the USDA Forest Service website before heading out to this trail.
This easy trail hugs the shoreline of Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in North America. The views of this pristine lake, surrounded by lush forest and majestic mountains, are among the most breathtaking in the state. Seeing as it's an easy trail, bring the kids and dog for some fresh mountain air and nature views. Visit AllTrails for a map of Zephyr Beach Trail.
2. Little Washoe Lake Trail

3. Huffaker Hills Trail
- Location: Huffaker Hills Open Space in Reno
- Length: 1.7-mile loop trail
- Need to Know: Huffaker Hills is a popular spot for hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers, so it can be pretty busy.

This trek offers some of the most picturesque views in the city, with mountain peaks as a backdrop, yet you'll feel worlds away from it. Hikers have mentioned that there are some steep and rocky sections, but the overall terrain is still relatively easy. If you bring your dog, please keep it on a leash at all times.
4. Lovelock Caves Nature Trail

This historical landmark was once used as a rock shelter, where the discovery of thousands of ancient artifacts, including Tule Duck Decoys, hunting tools, and so much more, dating back to approximately 2000 B.C., was made. The cave is absolutely fascinating to see and a must for anyone interested in Nevada history. You can view a trail map on AllTrails.
