You’re Going To Love These Predictions About Nebraska’s Mild Upcoming Winter

Nebraskans are preparing for a frigid winter in 2023-2024 with community spirit and practical tips.

If there's one phrase that sums up winter in Nebraska, it's "expect the unexpected." Sometimes we can experience weather in the mid-70s all the way into December, while in other years it can start snowing in September and not stop until April. The Farmers Almanac just released its outlook for the coming year, and this winter is looking like it's going to be a pretty mild one.

According to the Almanac's predictions, the winter will start out with temperatures that are lower than average in November and December.

Precipitation will be a little above average in November, but it will even out and be perfectly average in December and January. No big Christmas blizzards for us this year!

Then in January, we can expect beautiful days as the temperatures will be significantly warmer than usual.

February's precipitation is expected to be a little below average, and coupled with above-average temperatures, we should have a very mild late winter. This trend will last all through March, then we'll transition in to a slightly cooler than average April.

Overall, it's shaping up to be a pretty nice winter (unless you like snow, that is). But if the Almanac's longer-range predictions are accurate, the winter of 2018-2019 is going to bring us plenty of precipitation.
