Summer's here, and that means we've got a lot of planning to do, if we haven't already started. Staying cool might be our top priority, especially when the temperatures get really hot, and we have no shortage of ways to do that. Spend a fun day under the sun at Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park in Missouri, for example, which boasts hiking trails, picnic areas, and a natural water park.

Although the shut-ins can get quite crowded, especially on hot days, you have a pretty good chance of finding a quiet spot to cool off and to swim.

Slides. The shut-ins boast natural waterslides, a unique feature, and you can even find smaller pools to kick back and relax in away from the crowds.

Keep in mind that you're pretty much on your own in the water. There are no lifeguards at the shut-ins.
