These 9 Photos Of A Frozen Minnehaha Falls Will Take Your Breath Away

Minnesota is home to so many gorgeous waterfalls. From the incredibly popular Gooseberry Falls in Two Harbors to the lesser known - but still magnificent - Winnewissa Falls in Pipestone, the Land of 10,000 Lakes might as well be called the Land of Dozens of Waterfalls. Even the state's largest city has a horse in the race, with Minnehaha Creek falling 53 feet to create the famous Minnehaha Falls. This Minneapolis waterfall, like all the others in the state, is beautiful in the summertime, but in the winter, it holds an otherworldly beauty that will take your breath away.

Minnehaha Regional Park is just as pretty in the winter as it is in the summer.

It is a popular spot year round.

Why? Because the 53-foot frozen falls is breathtaking to behold.

It is gorgeous from the top of the falls...

...and equally breathtaking if you walk down the winding stairs to view it from the base.

The frozen water can create a curtain of huge, sharp icicles. Other times, it looks more smooth.

While it is ill-advised, some people even make the journey behind the frozen falls.

The frozen water is a glowing blue, and the vantage point from behind the falls offers one of the most unique views in Minneapolis.

While beautiful, venturing behind the falls is dangerous - and considered trespassing. It's best to enjoy these photos instead!

All in all, Minnehaha Fall is absolutely stunning when frozen. If you get a chance, visit this winter. It's unforgettable.
