The Great Lake State has spectacular natural beauty that is lovingly preserved by state parks and nature centers. I love nature centers for all the conservation efforts and community events you experience throughout the year. You can visit one of the best nature centers in the state (that I personally love and visit often) and walk this amazing hiking trail in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Kalamazoo Valley River Trail Loop is located at the Kalamazoo Nature Center in Southwest Michigan. The Kalamazoo Nature Center has more than 15 miles of well-maintained trails that are ready for you to explore.
This 4.7-mile trail loop is an easy walk that takes less than two hours to complete, but you can easily extend or shorten the duration.
Unless you are a Kalamazoo Nature Center member, there is a small admission fee to enter. Dogs are not allowed in the nature center or on the trails.
On your adventure, you’ll walk along a partially paved and partially unpaved route where you’ll see the lovely Kalamazoo River, birds, wildlife, fields, forests, and breathtaking views.
The trails are open year-round for colorful hikes during the fall, lush greenery in the spring, shade in the summer, and solitude in the winter.
Since the Kalamazoo Nature Center cares for Michigan’s natural habitats, keep your eyes peeled for beautiful wildflowers and native plants during your hike.
When you pay admission, you’ll be able to access the facilities such as the bathrooms and water fountains. While you’re here, stop by and say hello to the birds that are under the care of the nature center.
To plan your visit or to donate to the wonderful conservation efforts, visit the Kalamazoo Nature Center website or Kalamazoo Nature Center Facebook page. Have you explored these glorious trails before? Tell us about it in the comments. If you have a local nature center that deserves to be featured, let us know about it by submitting a nomination form and we may write about it. Now that you’ve worked up an appetite on the trails, head to Junglebird In Downtown Kalamazoo for delicious Caribbean cuisine.
