The Bay State is filled with much beauty within its borders. From Cape Ann to Cape Cod, from Boston to the Berkshires, we can find both manmade and natural wonders. And if you want to have an experience like no other, one that's like walking on water, there's one natural wonder in Massachusetts that should go straight to the top of your bucket list. The Brewster Tidal Flats will amaze you!
At 12,000 acres, the Brewster Tidal Flats, MA is the largest of its kind in North America. It extends from Brewster all the way up the coast to North Eastham.
During the lowest of low tides, the water recedes rather far, leaving approximately two miles of sandbar behind in some areas along the coast. While the tide is out, you can take a long walk toward the water.
With the sandbar going out as far as the eye can see, it may feel as though you're walking on water. It's a rather fascinating feeling walking so far out on an area that is usually submerged by water.
Along your walk, you'll see plenty of tide pools. Stop and take a look to see what sea creatures are in each one. Maybe you'll see a crab, some small fish, shellfish, or even a snail.
This is such a unique natural wonder in Massachusetts to experience. Just keep in mind though that the tide can come back rather quickly, so time your walk out onto the Brewster Tidal Flats accordingly.
And if you're here for sunset, it's absolutely magical! There's nothing quite as beautiful as a Cape Cod sunset, especially at the Brewster Tidal Flats.
Brewster Tidal Flats photos like these make us want to head over right now!
