Benedict Pond is a sparkling blue Massachusetts swimming hole in Beartown State Forest. It’s the perfect spot to cool off after a quick hike through the woods.
Located in Monterey, Beartown State Forest is a true hidden gem. This scenic park offers year-round fishing, hiking, and wildlife-spotting opportunities.
You can reach Benedict Pond via a short and sweet trail called the Benedict Pond Loop. It will take you there and back without the need to double back and retrace your path.
The trail terrain is slightly bumpy but not hilly, making it perfect for novice hikers. It’s approximately 1.7 miles in length and will take you just about an hour if you walk at a leisurely pace.
Once you reach the pond, you’ll be dazzled by the tranquil, clear water and lush foliage surrounding the swimming hole. There isn’t a sandy beach, but you can easily make your way into the pond via numerous grassy banks.
