Explore the awe-inspiring natural wonders of Massachusetts, including gorges, caves, waterfalls, and scenic vistas.

The planets are putting on a once-in-a-lifetime show later this month, and Massachusetts will have a front-row seat!

An astronomical phenomenon known as the Christmas Star is happening in just over a week. Here’s why you’ll want to keep your eyes to the skies!

A rare celestial event is about to grace the skies above Massachusetts. The Christmas Star will appear, and you won’t want to miss it!

On December 21, 2020, Saturn and Jupiter will appear extremely close together in the sky. They may look like a single glowing point.

Astronomers have dubbed it the Great Conjunction of 2020, but this special astronomical event has also been called the Christmas Star.

The unique phenomenon occurs roughly every 20 years, but this year is special. The planets haven’t appeared this close together for 800 years.

In fact, the last time it happened was all the way back in 1226, before telescopes were invented.

One popular story about the Christmas Star is that it was actually this planetary conjunction that guided the three biblical wise men to Bethlehem.

The “star” will appear on the winter solstice this year, making it even more of a special moment. All you need to do to check it out is head outside and look up!

If you happen to miss the Christmas Star of 2020, you’ll have another shot at seeing Saturn and Jupiter in conjunction in 2040. However, they won’t be this close again until 2080. All the more reason to get out there and do some stargazing!
