Hidden in the lush landscape of Heritage Museum & Gardens, a beautiful purple river winds through the trees.

The Bulb River is made up of 35,000 grape hyacinths. The bulbs are planted in December and explode into beautiful color in the spring.

It’s bordered by bright "eddies" of daffodils. There are over 1,500 of the yellow blooms included along the river.

The jewel-like tones of the purple flowers are absolutely dazzling. When the wind blows, it truly looks like the river is flowing through the greenery.

Of course, these beautiful gardens offer more than just the bulb river. They’re full of gorgeous walking paths surrounded by blossoms of all kinds and colors.

If you're visiting in early May, most of the gardens will be in brilliant bloom.

There are countless places to wander here that ensure a day filled with the lovely scents and sights of spring.

The river’s peak is normally around Mother’s Day, so head to the gardens between the end of April and mid-May to see it at its best.

You can find the Bulb River at 67 Grove Street, Sandwich. Heritage Museum & Gardens is open from April 15 to October 9. The garden’s hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
