When searching for your next day trip destination in Maryland, head to Washington County to find Greenbrier State Park.

It's located in Boonsboro, right off of Route 40.

You can do several activities here, including camping, fishing, and canoeing, but most visitors enjoy taking a dip in Greenbrier Lake. In fact, this is one of the best lakes in Maryland and a destination that certainly deserves a spot on your bucket list.

What a picture perfect way to cool down.

Not only are the surrounding sights gorgeously scenic, but on most days, the water is crystal clear.

NOTE: After a big rainstorm, the water will be a bit murky. Like any body of water, clarity varies daily.

Interested in visiting this state park? Be sure to arrive early, as there can often be a line to get into the park -- especially during the weekend mornings.

For fewer crowds, consider visiting on a weekday. The earlier the better, so that you can also have first dibs on a spot on the sandy beach.
